Thanks for visiting Shannon!

Shannon is a great friend of ours that I met way back when I used to work at Crossmark in Dallas. A few years back, she moved to her hometown in Indiana and we haven't seen each other for quite awhile. She decided she needed a little get away and came to visit us. We had a great time and appreciate her coming to see us!

As you all know there is something wrong with our dog , this definitely proves it! I took ray over to the new lake today and he loved it. He then proceeded to roll on his back in the grass! What a goof ball !!!!!

Power Issues

So last night when Ash and I got home our block was dark. I went over and talked to the guys that had the transformer for our block open and he gave me a very technical explanation of what was happening. It went something like this: That transformer is sick, so we are going to replace it.

And replace it they did. The shot above was taken at about 2am when the crew showed up and hoisted the old box out of the ground and dropped a new one in its place.

Mvelopes

So as you all know Ash and I drank some of the Dave Ramsey Kool-Aid and have been loving life ever since...

One of the things that Dave teaches is the good old fashioned Envelope System. It is a very easy method of keeping track of how much money you have allocated to what. The challange comes as you start to allocate things within your accounts in the virtual world. Big companies like the one I work for use GLs to keep track of all of these type of things. Some companies even have multiple accounts. Unfortunately having an account for each type of allocation just isn't an option for us...

Enter the great program called Mvelopes. It is the only online software that allows you to create virtual accounts that directly correspond to a real account. Basically it lets you allocate your money into various envelopes within your actual account. It even connects to your actual account and downloads transactions. When new transactions show up you simply assign them to an envelope and the money is deducted accordingly. It is simply the best method for keeping track of this, hands down!

Ash and I have been using it with great success, so I thought I would let everybody else know. The Company that makes Mvelopes is based in Draper Utah so we are even supporting a local business! Check out their site for more info or just ask me: https://my.mvelopes.com/

Being in the Know...
2008-06- 2T16:27:37Z

So it is no secret that I am a scanner nut. One of my favorite applications (Unitrunker) released an Alpha version of their next update last week. It is unbelievable and is a huge improvement over the previous version which was already great. The screen above shows what I see and is highly customizable depending on what elements of the trunked radio system you want to monitor.

In the Bottom right is the main system window that shows all activity on the trunked radio system. The system I am on at the moment is called know as the 7202 UCAN system and is used by almost every department (Police, Fire, Public Works, Medical) in our area. The other windows are details of specific groups on the system. For example the third one down on the right is the South Jordan Police Dispatch channel.

I know it is a bit geeky, but I love it...

Why does Wendys on 3300 south by REI give you a new cup when you ask for a refil. It seems like such a waste!
