September 29th
2007-09-30T14:50:30Z

So yesterday was September 29th and it was snowing... Yea, actual snow! This shot was taken fairly early in the storm. At the end, the grass you see was totally covered.

That didn't stop Ash and I. We still went to a great dinner at Cucina Toscana and then went to see Moonlight and Magnolias at the Salt Lake Acting Company. We got season tickets and this was the first play of the season. We are both looking forward to the other ones...

It is really starting to take shape. Framing is moving along good but we still have a long ways to go...

Utah's Fallen Memorial
2007-09-23T21:45:45Z

After the annual Utah's Fallen ride today everybody paid their respects to the Utah Law Enforcement Officers that have died in the line of duty. While today each offices was represented by a flag, a permanent memorial has been proposed.

The first office killed in the line of duty was Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff Rodney Badger. Officer Badger drowned in the Weber River in 1853 while rescuing a family. The most recent death was on June 22, 2007. Officer Stephen R. Anderson was shot and killed by an inmate who gained control of the officer's weapon during treatment at University Hospital. The suspect escaped but was recaptured following a high speed chase.

Utah's Fallen

Today there was the annual Utah's Fallen Officer ride to the capital. Ash and I were able to catch it going up State Street today as it passed 1900 south. I was listening to the scanner and heard the lead crossing North Temple and we still had riders passing our location. That is over 19 blocks of motorcycles!

After they all passed us we headed up to the capital to check out the memorial that had been setup.

Fall is here...
2007-09-23T21:20:18Z

I know I have said this before, but it is great to be back in Utah to be able to enjoy the outside of life. The last few weekends I have been up in the canyon for one thing or another. The leaves are in their annual process of changing and the colors are amazing. I forgot how great this time of year is and how pretty things are just before they die :)

Camping

Ash and I went up camping with Tay and Erin this weekend. It was a lot of fun and something we haven't done in years...

We also finally joined REI and got some great deals at the garage sale over the weekend. New packs, shoes and jackets we should be set for at least a few weeks :)

Wasatch 100 Hike
2007-09- 7T19:27:56Z

Today we took our annual hike to setup the communication equipment for the Wasatch 100. This shot is looking south from the Clayton Peak area at the top of Brighton Ski Resort. The peak is just over 10,000 feet and has a great view (as you can see)...

Today Ash and I took a hike up to Donut Falls. It was a great day for a hike. When we got out of the car at the trail head it was 68 outside (it was about 85 when we left the house). On our way up we spotted a Moose eating not to far from the trail. I took a few pictures but they really didn't turnout.

At any rate, it was a good way to spend a Monday off of work. This will be an extra short week for me as I will be taking Friday off to help support the Wasatch 100. Friday morning we start off by hiking up Clayton Peak to place some communication equipment used for the run. Then it is off to Midway to setup the command post where we will be working over the weekend. It is a lot of work, but well worth the time...

Why does Wendys on 3300 south by REI give you a new cup when you ask for a refil. It seems like such a waste!
