Getting set up...
2007-02-22T22:36:40Z

Well one day left in my first week at the new job. Things are going good and I am primarily focusing on just getting everything setup. The shot above is of my temporary desk. This will be my home until they finish the remodeling on the 2nd floor. When done I will move into an actual office. Yea, no more cubes!

I think we found it...
2007-02-18T11:00:44Z

Well after about a week of searching, I think Ash and I have found our future home. On Monday we are planning on going back to secure our lot and will be building a new home in Daybreak.

This shot is of the block where our house will be located. On Monday we will pick an actual lot within the block and start the customization process... As you can imagine we are very excited!

Disk Head

Well Ray had to go to the vet today. While we were on the cruise he had a little issue with his paw. We took him to the vet when we got home, but the paw never fully healed. So today he went to his new vet and they gave him some medication and the infamous disk.

We made it...
2007-02-12T 6:46:34Z

Well we made in into the big city of salt yesterday at about 15:00. The drive really was not that bad, it was only made difficult by our wonderful dog. As you saw in the picture below, he insisted in having his head out the window... This lead to me wearing my coat, ski gloves and having the heat blasting, all so the dog can hang his head out. At one point I turned to Ash and said, "I am getting wet now, can we please roll up the window?" Yea, it was raining, but Ray wanted to keep his head out...

So today we are headed out to look at houses here in the area. After that I think we will hit the gym to try and work off a few of our cruise pounds :)

The Drive - Day 2
2007-02-11T 9:00:05Z

Yea we got up at the crack of dawn today and started the drive into Salt Lake City.

I had a chance to fix the map issue from yesterday so for those tracking us at Where's Brett, it should be working now...

Now back to driving!

The Drive - Day 1
2007-02-10T20:54:34Z

So today we took off from Dallas and just arrived in Limon, Co (Jeff & Tricia you were right, it does smell like cows). Radar was very good along the way. It was funny, when we got to Kansas, he insisted on hanging out the window. He stayed out almost the entire way through Kansas. The best part is it was only 32 outside so we were freezing, but Ray was happy...

Tomorrow it is on the road again to finish up the trek into Salt Lake City...

Bahamas Cruise
2007-02- 9T17:43:03Z

We have returned safe and sound and truly had a great time! We sailed on the Carnival ship Elation for 5 days to the Bahamas. The first day we spent at sea but on day two we were in the Grand Turks. We took a mini power boat tour and got to drive our own boats. Within the first 10 minutes Ash and I had overturned ours and rescue operations were quickly underway. We were fine, but one of the guys said it was the first time somebody had ever turned one over. Later on that day Tay and Erins boat started to go flat, so they had to swap while we were out...

Day three we were scheduled to be at Half Moon Cay. Unfortunately the wind was really strong and the captain decided it would not be safe. So we spent that day at sea and arrived in Nassau around 17:00 that night. This was Ash and I's second time in Nassau, so we decided to take an island tour. It was really good and we got to see some neat places.

All in all we had a great time. I got motion sick even with my Travel Calm Ginger the first night but fortunately they were selling Bonine at the gift shop. This was great! After taking it, I had no issues. So I ended up going back to the gift shop and buying a few more boxes :)

Out!!
2007-02- 2T 8:00:00Z
Well as everybody is well aware by now, today is my last day with McAfee. My five year run here has been very eventful and extremely educational...

When I started with McAfee, things were not good. It was during the dot com bust and the entire market was not doing well. Especially for Systems Administrators. Then one day I got a phone call and the next thing I knew I was employed and climbing the corporate ladder again. I have really enjoyed the people I have worked with over the last five years, and will be sad to leave them behind.

The last project at McAfee I was working on was the Global Solutions Lab. This, hands down was the best thing I have ever worked on in my career. I really enjoyed truly pushing the envelope and creating the future ways McAfee will conduct business. The lab has come a long way from its beginning! We are just now getting to the point where there is true buy in from all areas of the company. There is a tremendous opportunity for McAfee and the lab team and I hope that my successors will continue to lead the lab on a path of success.

Best wishes to everybody at McAfee and thanks again for a great 5 years!
