Merry Christmas
2006-12-25T22:58:02Z

It was a great Christmas for our families today. We started off at my moms house for our traditional Christmas breakfast and gift exchange. At about 12:30 we went over to Ash's parent's house for more food and gifts. We wrapped up the night with a fire in the backyard and some good wine.

Hope everybody's days was as enjoyable as ours...

Millcreek Canyon

Since we got the fresh snow yesterday, I decided to get up this morning and head up Millcreek Canyon. You forget how nice it is to have this only 5 minutes away from your home.

Snow!
2006-12-23T11:38:57Z

Friday morning we woke up to snow! We were going to head up to Park City but we decided to play it safe and stay in the valley. Yea I know, we have lived in Dallas too long...

We finished up our shopping and are all ready for the big day. This shot was taken looking north across The Gateway. Tomorrow I think Ash and I are going to head up to Park City.

Christmas Reflections
2006-12-19T10:07:51Z

Well Ash and I arrived in SLC yesterday and it is beautiful here. From the moment we stepped off the airplane we new we were no longer in Dallas. The air is so much more crisp and the cold was very refreshing!

We are both looking forward to our time here and being able to reconnect with our friends and family. We have a fairly busy schedule, but whats new after all it is Christmas...

Isabella's Restaurant
2006-12-17T 9:41:41Z

So last night Ashley and I got the special treat of going to a restaurant opening here in Frisco. Isabella's Restaurant serves up fine Italian dishes seven days a week. and is conveniently located at Legacy and 121, not to far from our house...

We really had a nice time and go to try a good amount of the items on the dinner menu. We started off with the Crab Cakes, which I might say had a ton of crab in them each, and an order of the calamari. The sauce on the calamari was great and it was cooked just right (the owner thought it was a bit chewy, but it tasted great to me). For our entree we had the Lobster Ravioli and the Beef tenderloin. Both were exceptional. The Ravioli was light with a very truffle butter sauce, while the Tenderloin was prepared just right and served along side mash potatoes and green beens.

As the night rounded out we had our share of deserts. Cheesecake, Tirami Su, Budina Al Carmello, and Bunet. The Bunet was a very rich chocolate was great, very rich though. The Tirami Su was light and fluffy and very good as well. But our favorite was the Budina Al Carmello, a light custard topped with caramel. It is very similar to a Creme Brulee, but not crisp on the top.

All in all it was a great restaurant, and we are very glad it will be joining the Frisco, Texas landscape. I am 100% sure that we will be back!

Lab Reconstruction 2.0
2006-12-14T22:38:34Z

It seems to be an endless battle managing the labs here at McAfee. My team has been working on re-locating some of our hardware from one facility to another. A few days ago we were ask if we could share one of our rooms with one of the DEV/QA teams from a company that we recently purchased. So earlier this week we had to clear out all the hardware and servers in the soon to be shared lab. After that we upgrade the climate control system, totally change the power distribution and completely re-wire the entire room. And that was all since Monday...

Well tonight is the big night. The hardware and servers from the other company are on their way. As you can see we have already started to put a few of them into place. There are a total of 27 cabinets that are coming over tonight and thus far we only have 5 of them... Oh yea, and it all has to be online by 8am tomorrow morning. The movers are currently taking a pizza break, so we are making great progress!

It's December! I think...
2006-12-14T17:35:26Z

So it's December... At least that is what the calendar is telling me. It is a bit hard to believe given the fact it is in the 70's this week. I always feel funny schlepping my big coat through the airport with other people in shorts on our way home for Christmas. It's not like SLC is an iceberg this year, they are warmer then usual as well, but 70's... Christmas doesn't have 70's...

Bad Santa

What is the square root of 20?
2006-12- 4T21:27:14Z

What is the square root of 20 you might ask? I would simply respond by saying it is the number of entries in my blog since September 4th, 2003. Now officially my Blog started quite some time ago and I have linked some of the postings from 2002 and early 2003 below.

One of the best parts of looking back is you can see they funny stuff you have done. Like my letter to Starbucks Corporation regarding the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino. You see back in 2002 I was slightly addicted to that drink and when Starbucks removed it from their menu on Sunday November 10th, 2002, I about died. After I got out of the hospital, I drafted a letter to Starbucks to bring back the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino.

You also end up seeing things like my posting from February 1, 2003 talking about the Space Shuttle Columbia explosion that both Ashley and I heard and many others fully documenting our life. All in all I love keeping a blog and recording what we do. It is great fun to share with our friends and family all of the fun things we do together and the silly moments we have in our lives. If you are reading this, thanks for your support and interest in our lives...

So now what was the square root of 20?

The mall, again...
2006-12- 3T20:41:42Z

Right, so we basically live at the Mall. This weekend JCP was having a big sale and had an early morning doorbuster special on several things. Plus with Ashley's associate discount, we could really clean up. So I got Ash out of bed early and over to the mall for some shopping (saving). While we were there we found out that at 16:00 they would be doing an additional mark down on some items. So Ash and I quickly coordinated our morning purchases to match the sale and proceeded to hide our other items in the store so we could return later and get them. After we left the mall in the morning we went over to Target to look at a few gifts for some people on our list. Then a quick stop at Starbucks and we went home to take a break.

After 16:00 we headed off to the mall again for more deals. While there we realized that we forgot to get something at Traget so we got dinner hit Starbucks and went back over to Target. Now if that wasn't enough, today, we went over to the Mall again at about 13:00, so Ash could set up her new room in the spa. Once she was done with that we drove down to one of the other malls (SWB), and did some shopping. When we finished up we went back to SBC and did more shopping.

On top of all of this it was Radars 6th Birthday on Saturday. Today at lunch Ash and I commented that he is 42 and still living at home...

All total this weekend we did the following:

SWB - 2 visits
SBC - 4 visits
Target - 2 visits
Old Navy - 1 visit
Bed Bath & Beyond - 1 visit
Starbucks - 3 visits
Several food places for lunch and dinners
Drove around looking at Christmas lights.

Don't ya just love the holidays...
